Porterfield R4-S Brake Pads (1990)
If you’re using your car for normal or spirited driving and want the best dust-free pads around, look no further than the Porterfield R4-S. These pads have an absurdly low level of dust and are incredibly quiet, making them ideal for someone that doesn’t need to worry about aggressive driving or track days.
The product image comparing the new R4 pad to the used R4-S pad show show heavily chamfered the R4-S is. The chamfering ensures the R4-S pads are smooth and silent, but reduces the surface area of the pad. While this is design is ideal for street use, the reduced surface area limits this pad’s ability to handle track duty.
A great way to handle both easy street driving and hardcore track days is to have a set of both the R4-S and R4 pads, and swap between as needed for street and track use.

Sold as a set of four pads: two for each caliper, which is enough for both front calipers.
I highly recommend only using matching brake pads. That is, if you need to replace your OEM front pads and want to use the R4-S pads, you should replace all the pads, even if the OEM rear pads are still okay.
CCM Rotors: These pads are not suitable for brakes with carbon/CCM rotors.
Wear Sensors: These brake pads do accommodate the brake pad wear sensors.

* 2012 was a transition year for the V8 Vantage. The V8 Vantage switched to a 6-piston front brake system which uses these pads. Prior to that change, the car used 4-piston front calipers and these pads do not fit that setup.
