VelocityAP Twin-Plate Clutch Package
$2,795.00 – $5,390.00
One of the best upgrades available for a V8 Vantage is getting a dual-plate clutch and lightweight flywheel. I’ve talked about the benefits extensively over the years, but here’s a quick summary if you haven’t seen or heard my ranting and raving:
- Better throttle response
- More power to the wheels
- Longer clutch life
- Lighter clutch pedal (manual)
- Smoother shifts (Sportshift)
This package includes the clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, spacer, and bolts. I highly recommend an engine tune along with the clutch since the throttle response benefits stack when using both, but the tune is not required for use with this clutch package. The purpose of the engine tune is to further enhance the performance of your Aston Martin, and using it in tandem with this clutch package provides a remarkable improvement to the car.
Note: The product images show both the original product and the current design. The current design is functionally the same as the original design.
Before the AMR clutch package was released, Stuart over at VelocityAP was hard at work taking care of the weak clutch complaints of us V8 Vantage owners. His solution? A V12’s clutch paired with a lightweight flywheel!
I’ve had this setup in my grey Vantage for a while now and it really does have a huge impact on the car. The engine is more responsive and lively, the clutch pedal far lighter and easier to work during long drives, and the twin-plate design far more robust and long-lasting than the standard single-plate clutch.
For those of you with Sportshift cars, this setup works beautifully! Here’s a great summary:
“[The engine] is more responsive right off the bat. The jerky cold starts in 1st gear are gone and the shifts are much smoother both with the paddles and in “D” mode. From a performance standpoint the car is much quicker. It gets up to speed much faster than the old set up.” -David K.
I get hear a lot of complaints about Sportshift cars, and everyone I’ve talked to with that transmission and this clutch package has been very happy with the results.
Included in this package is all the hardware needed for installation, but the clutch line needs to be flushed so I’d also recommend ordering a bottle of brake fluid as well.
These are not available for purchase through Redpants for customers in Europe or Australia. VelocityAP has distribution agreements with companies in those countries so if you’re in either one, please visit them to order:
