Battery choice should be made based on how the car is used.

Weight: Lower weight (lbs / kg) is better for vehicle performance and can improve every aspect of it. All things being equal, a lighter battery has fewer cranking amps and lower reserve capacity. However, comparing lead-acid to lithium-ion is not equal – it’s an apples-to-oranges comparison – so a lighter lithium-ion battery can have as much or more cranking amps and reserve capcity.

Cranking amps: Cranking amps (CCAs) is basically how much power the battery can quickly pump out to start the engine. The CCAs of a battery need to be adequate for the car/engine type. All the batteries listed below are appropriate for Aston Martins and other large-engine cars.

Reserve capacity: Reserve capacity (amp hours / Ah) is how much power the battery can store – the higher the Ah rating, the more power it can potentially hold. The less-often you drive your car, the more reserve capacity is needed. Using a battery tender can help extend this and allow use of smaller (lower Ah) batteries even if the car isn’t driven often. Lithium-ion stores energy differently than lead-acid, so the ratings used are “lead equivalent” (PbEq) to help make it relatable to the ubiquitous lead-acid technology everyone has always known.
